Ripper Demons

Introduction

Ripper Demons are one of the 4 Raptor specialty monsters, as such they boast mechanics that make engaging them more dangerous than normal mobs. They are mainly killed for Slayer tasks, the Kharidian Desert collection log, the parasitic orb which is used to unlock the Nipper demon pet, and for profit via creating

⬥ Ripper Demons can be assigned as a Slayer assignment by Mandrith, Laniakea, Morvran, Kuradal, and The Raptor.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎• Demon cluster tasks also work, they may be assigned by Laniakea, and The Raptor.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎⬩ Laniakea assigns almost twice as many.

⬥ This guide will focus on killing Ripper Demons via AOE methods as they yield the highest KPH; however, at lower levels it is suggested to kill them one at time in the Ripper Demon cave southeast of the Al Kharid lodestone

Mechanics

Slaughter

⬥ When engaged from a distance, Ripper Demons will immediately teleport to the player and cast Slaughter

, which deals triple damage if you move. • This makes them extremely easy to stack up for AoE damage. • This also incentivises staying at the same spot when AoEing.

Death from above

⬥ Ripper Demons gain adrenaline whenever they autoattack. • When the bar fills up, they will jump and land where the player was standing shortly after, dealing up to 32,000 hard typeless damage resulting in an instant kill. • This can be avoided by moving away from your original location immediately upon seeing them jump. • When AoEing, good DPM is crucial to avoid this mechanic.

Aggression

⬥ If the player is below 35% HP, all nearby Ripper Demons will immediately aggro to the player. • Usually, using

when low HP is desirable to prevent being stacked out.

Death spin

⬥ When killed, Ripper Demons will spin and hit any nearby players with weak rapid melee hits per tick in a 3x3 area, which can deal large damage if stood in. • This mechanic is the main reason

and

are essential for killing rippers.

• 14% damage reduction and 9% damage increase whilst in the Wilderness. ⬩ This effect scales with the tier of your puzzle box. • Tier 6 allows you to put it in your tool belt.

Location and How to Get there

The Wilderness

If killing Ripper Demons in the Wilderness; they are located west of the Demonic Ruins / northeast of Red Dragon Isle, they are aggressive in this location. Ensure you disable PVP by speaking to Vala in Edgeville.

1) How to get there in order of speed:

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎a) Annakarl Teleport (Ancient Magicks) and run west, has a high chance of aggro'ing Kal'gerion demons

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎b) Games necklace teleport to Corporeal Beast and run northeast.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎c) Wilderness sword teleport to herb patch and run north, then east along the lava.

⬥ If hunting elite spawns in the Wilderness, stay a few kills after the end of your task in case the "forced spawn" is delayed.*

⬥ Unless otherwise specified, stand in-between the lava pools to funnel the onto one tile.

Ripper Demon Cave

If killing Ripper Demons in the Ripper Demon cave; teleport to the Al Kharid lodestone and run southeast towards the cave entrance. They are not aggressive in this location.

Method: Low Effort Magic

Magic is very effective at damage reduction and as such is a strong choice for killing Ripper Demons. Stacking Animate Dead , Cryptbloom armour , Infernal Puzzle Box , Deflect Melee with Amulet of souls and Enhanced Devoted 4 , should allow players to sustain themselves purely with Blood Barrage healing alone.

Walk up and attack demons between steps. This is the most dangerous part of the method as the first few demons are the slowest to kill since is not active yet and you have no stacks. Keep track of the demons on you and look out for jumps (refer to example video below).

*Notes:

⬥ You must target the Slasher Demon (elite) when it spawns to kill it before the jump as deals only 60% to non-main targets.

⬥ In legacy, after almost every action the player should click on a ripper to prevent attacks from being delayed.

Method: Low Effort Necromancy

Necromancy tank armour is very effective at mitigating damage taken via its passive, and as such is a strong choice for killing Ripper Demons. Stacking Darkness , Deathwarden armour , Infernal Puzzle Box , Hellhound , Deflect Melee with Amulet of souls and Enhanced Devoted 4 , should allow players to only require inputs when Alt1 warnings go off.
